What do I wear to SleepWell by Vie?

Wear whatever you feel comfortable practicing yoga + meditation and relaxing in. Kick off your shoes, turn off your phone, breathe and enjoy the experience we have created for you.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Water, mats and all equipment are all provided and included in the cost.

What is meditation?

Meditation is a practice that releases tension in the mind. Through it we are able to see our thoughts objectively and witness them, but not control or hold onto them. Each time we practice, we let go of stress, fear, anxiety, or anything negative that’s creating tension in our mind and body.

When we have a relaxed mind, we can feel calm and refreshed; we go from doing to being. We are able to shift our thoughts from negative to positive allowing us to have kindness and compassion for ourselves and others.

What can meditation do for us?

We take care of our bodies through a healthy diet and exercise, why not our minds? We can start to find life balance when focusing on three key areas: mind, body and soul. Meditation can help us in so many ways—it can increase our focus, productivity, memory, and creativity; boost our body’s immunity to illness and disease; and reduce stress. It can even improve our sleep, quality of life, and renew us on a cellular level, leading to greater health, beauty and longevity.

Through meditation, we can also have a clearer vision for our life, enabling us to create the life we want and ultimately to fulfill our positive desires and become more trusting of our own journey. When practiced daily, meditation opens us to our highest good, helping us become healthier and happier. A daily practice can transform our lives, particularly how we view the world around us, in the most positive ways.

Julie’s Influences and Training

Yogi Charu is a student of yoga and meditation for over 20 years. He has lived in the Himalayas where he learned the yogic lifestyle from Yogi Vijay. He was later initiated into Kriya and yoga meditations by Anandakapila Saraswati.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who developed Transcendental Meditation. TM is a mental technique that allows the mind to settle very deeply inward—in a natural way.

Meditation methodology

The Veda is the body of knowledge from ancient India that is the source of yoga, meditation, and Ayurvedic medicine, and is the basis of Indian philosophy. Vedic meditation is an ancient practice (over 2,500 years old) that uses breath, mantras and yantras—effortless techniques that anyone can practice. All that is required is to sit comfortably with the eyes closed for an average of 20-30 minutes.

Vedic meditation allows the process of our thinking to become increasingly quiet and settled, while maintaining full alertness. As the mind settles, the body begins to rest very deeply.

Following meditation, the mind is more alert and calm, and thinking is clearer. With regular meditation, people find their energy levels increase and they can achieve more with less effort. As a result, work, play and relationships in general are easier and more rewarding.
